Drawing inspiration from many sources including landscape and plant life, Louise is particularly interested in the land, its geological formation and the balance between representation and abstraction. North Yorkshire and the Outer Hebrides are her main areas of focus and she aims to capture the colours and essence of the places she records. Sketching on site, along with many photographs provide the starting point for her painting.

Now retired from teaching, Louise works in her studio in North Cowton, North Yorkshire, teaching privately and producing her own work including commissioned pieces.
